Molecular Genetics: Studying genes and finding their disorders regarding genetic diseases, are considered as a part of medical genetics services. The result of these tests can be utilized for studying carriers and pregnancy diagnosis.
Cytogenetics: Cytogenetics is a subtype of the genetic department of the laboratory that examines the human chromosomes, numerically and structurally by cultivating an individual cell.
Cytogenetics studies help to prevent the birth of infants with numerical and structural disorders in their chromosomes which lead to difficulties such as mental retardation, growth retardation, etc.
Furthermore, the study of chromosomes in adults can be effective for the diagnosis of some problems like spontaneous abortion, recurrent abortion, infertility, etc.
